The Story of Andy Chung – Founder, Goalie Mask Collector
From Childhood Obsession to the World's Premier Source for Autographed Goalie Masks
Andy Chung’s story begins in Montreal, Quebec, where winters were brutal, but hockey was everything. Like many kids growing up in the '80s and '90s, Andy was glued to the crease—not the scoreboard. His heroes weren’t the goal scorers. They were the ones standing tall in the net.
Two names defined everything for him: Patrick Roy and Mike Richter.

Roy was fire—intensity, perfection, and fierce confidence. Richter was ice—reflexes, grit, and unshakable composure. Between them, they represented everything Andy admired about goaltending: obsession with the craft, loyalty to the team, and the will to win no matter the odds.
While classmates took notes, Andy filled the margins of his schoolbooks with sketches of goalie masks—mostly Roy’s and Richter’s. To him, the mask wasn’t just gear. It was a warrior’s armor, a signature, a soul.
Years later, after building a career in finance as a banker, Andy decided to bring that childhood obsession into the real world. He wanted a full-size, authentic Patrick Roy mask for his office—something worthy of the legend himself.
But nothing on the market even came close.

Frustrated by the lack of quality and detail, Andy took matters into his own hands. He tracked down the original mask makers who painted Roy’s actual game-worn masks and had one recreated from scratch. Museum-grade, no shortcuts, and true to the original.
That single mask changed everything.
Friends and collectors started asking about it. Some offered to buy it. Others wanted their own. Soon, Andy’s personal hobby turned into a full-time obsession—and eventually, a business built on trust, authenticity, and elite craftsmanship.
That’s how Goalie Mask Collector was born.

Fast forward 30 years from those schoolbook sketches, and Andy has not only met his childhood heroes—he’s worked directly with them. From Patrick Roy to New York’s legendary Mike Richter, Andy has collaborated multiple times with the very goalies who inspired him to begin with.
Today, Andy maintains close relationships with NHL player agents and goaltenders, including icons like Curtis Joseph, Felix Potvin, Grant Fuhr, and more.
Every mask from Goalie Mask Collector is 100% hand-painted by top-tier artists based in Ontario, Quebec, and across the United States. Built to NHL-caliber standards, each mask is a premium collectible—complete with certified autographs from the game’s most legendary goaltenders.
